I love collecting the 3 types of sages I offer to you. It is peaceful and blissful gathering in the early still mornings of July and August. Pasture sage is gathered from our section and a half of land while the prairie sage is gathered locally (within 10 miles of the farm). When I receive requests for Prairie and Pasture smudge sticks I hand wrap the orders just before I send them. I feel the quality and energy of the sage is fresher done in this manner. The white sage I gather down in southern Saskatchewan around Swift Current. It is the most difficult to cure properly as it must be wrapped first and then dried, a process which takes a month to 6 weeks. Left unwrapped it falls off the stem and can only be burned as loose sage. White Sage is a powerful herb with long lasting strength. Just snip the ends off when you receive the sage to smell the scent of summer. Amazing! I like adding purification herbs with the sages, a combination of traditional smudge use with wiccan herbal lore. The White Sage and Prairie Sage are the most popular. In my opinion, for homesick prairie people, the scent of pasture sage is nostalgic and comforting.
